Wool Care

Daily care—woven garments may be hung on suitable hangers with enough space to enable creases to drop out.

Knitted garments, including hand knits must never be hung, fold and store.

Treat stains immediately—rinse minor stains with cold water and dab dry with a clean soft cloth. Do not use tissues or paper towels.

Drying—if your wool garment gets wet, dry it away from direct heat (heater or direct sunlight).

Storing—clean first according to care label. Cedar blocks or mothballs will deter moths from damaging the fibres.

Always check the label—Depending on the type of wool garment, some are hand wash or dry clean only whilst others are machine washable, using the wool cycle, and dried in the tumble dryer.

Wool detergent—your supermarket stocks a range of wool detergents, however Tantech offer a wool detergent, which meets the high standards set by Merinomark®.

Woolskin Sheepskin Shampoo & Woolwash is a unique blend containing a mild surfactant to gently and effectively remove most soiling and stains. It also contains a ‘conditioning’ agent to ensure the soft feel of natural wool and to retain the special lustre of new wool. Finally Woolskin Sheepskin Shampoo & Woolwash contains a blend of Australian melaleuca oils, including tea tree oil, which has been proven effective against dust mite & pet allergen, especially recommended for wool bedding, as well as the fresh scent of natural lemon myrtle, which reduces ‘wet wool smell’.

Woolskin Sheepskin Shampoo & Woolwash is recommended for hand or machine washing of all garments marked suitable for washing, including knitted garments such as jumpers and handknits, and woven garments such as wool denim and moleskins.
